Welcome to Lumintheme! This guide will walk you through everything you need to get your new theme installed and ready to customize.
Booster, Thrive & Casaio — Lumintheme Shopify Themes
Whether you purchased Booster, Thrive, or Casaio, the installation process is identical for all three themes, so you can follow these steps regardless of which one you picked up.
Before You Begin
Before jumping into the installation, take a moment to make sure you have everything in place. A little preparation here will save you time and prevent common hiccups along the way.
You will need the following:
An active Shopify store (any plan works, including the free trial).
Access to the email account you used when purchasing from Lumintheme.
The theme zip file downloaded to your computer (more on this below).
Admin access to your Shopify store.
💡 If you are installing this theme on a live store that already has customers visiting it, consider enabling Shopify's password protection temporarily under Online Store > Preferences while you set things up. This way you can work freely without customers seeing an unfinished storefront.
Step 1: Download Your Theme File
After completing your purchase, Lumintheme sends a confirmation email to the address you provided at checkout. This email contains your personal download link for the theme zip file.
Open your email inbox and search for an email from Lumintheme. Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see it in your main inbox.
Inside the email, locate the download link for your purchased theme.
Click the download link. Your browser will either prompt you to save the file or it will download automatically to your default downloads folder.
Once downloaded, locate the zip file on your computer. Depending on which theme you purchased, the file will be named in one of the following formats:
Booster-x-x-x.zip
Thrive-x-x-x.zip
Casaio-x-x-x.zip
The x-x-x portion represents the version number of the theme (for example, Booster-1-0-0.zip).
💡 Do not unzip or extract the theme file. Shopify requires you to upload the zip file exactly as it is. Extracting it before uploading is one of the most common mistakes during theme installation and will cause the upload to fail.
💡 If you cannot find the email, check that you are looking in the correct inbox. If you still cannot locate it, reach out to Lumintheme support with your order details and they can resend the download link for you.
Step 2: Log In to Your Shopify Admin
Open your web browser and go to your Shopify admin URL. This typically looks like yourstore.myshopify.com/admin.
Enter your email address and password, then click Log in.
If you have two-step authentication enabled, complete that step as well.
Once you are inside your Shopify admin dashboard, you are ready to begin the installation.
Step 3: Navigate to the Theme Library
From your Shopify admin dashboard, look at the left-hand sidebar and click on Online Store.
This will expand a submenu. Click on Themes.
You will now be on the Themes page, which shows your currently active theme at the top and any other installed themes below it in a section called Theme library.
Step 4: Upload the Theme Zip File
This is the main installation step. Shopify allows you to upload a theme directly from a zip file, which is exactly how Lumintheme themes are installed.
On the Themes page, scroll down past your currently active theme until you see the Theme library section.
On the right side of the Theme library heading, click the button that says Add theme.
A dropdown menu will appear with two options. Select Upload zip file from the dropdown.
A file upload dialog window will open. Click the area that says or browse to upload a zip file, or simply drag and drop your theme zip file into the upload area.
Navigate to the location on your computer where you saved the downloaded zip file, select it, and click Open (or equivalent on your operating system).
